Secret Chiefs 3 – Xaphan: Book of Angels volume 9 (2008)

This is one of my ALL TIME favorite records by one of my ALL TIME favorite bands. These guys jumped on the “Book of Angels” train, which are musical compositions from Jazz Master “John Zorn”. If you claim to love music and “listen to everything” this is a must have!!! I’ll be posting more of these guys in the future!

I just started diggin on these guys. Johnny Whitney, former front man of The Blood Brothers, brings his crazy ass vocal style around once again. I’m pretty sure if I was playing this in my studio I’d be made fun of right away… then again it’s full of Bob Dylan hippies.

Okay, here we go! The big swingin cock of novelty rock… WESLEY WILLIS!!! If you have no clue what this guys all about you HAVE to get this. With such classics as “I Wupped Batman’s Ass, Rock’n Roll McDonald’s, I’m Sorry I Got Fat, I Broke Out Your Windshield, Suck A Caribou’s Ass, and Fuck You” how could anybody pass up this collection of synthesized rock from a schizophrenic giant black man!!! wiki

I’ve said a few times that “this is what Animal Collective wishes they were.” Not sure if I still believe this whole heartedly… AC has gone through so many changes over the decade that it’s almost an unfair statement… But you can see the influence…. Tipsy - Buzzz (2008)

Apparently (from what I heard) Mike Patton got these guys to start making music again sometime in 2005… I dunno how true this is and I would appreciate any corrections but without argument, I’m sure most will agree this is one record that you absolutely cannot live without. If you like old lounge music or just want to make yourself look fucking awesome, play this at an Art School party and watch all the hipsters get real interested in you real fast!
